China iron ore production increases will reduce demand for imported ore in the second half of 2008

Iron ore imports to China are unsustainably high and will drop in the second half of 2008 as domestic iron ore concentrate capacity continues to expand

Despite a 19% increase in imported iron ore in the first five months of 2008, WSD continues to forecast flat iron ore imports with 2007, implying a 27% drop in second half 2008 imports.  Here are some reasons why:
